HO HO HO! Merry X'mas & A Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas to all! This is the Christmas tree just put up by my sister...before saying that it is plain and ugly. I really hope she can be this true to herself all the time ha! Most of the decorations were thrown away, so this year nothing to display. Anyway our family has always been not keen on celebrating, the setting up of the tree is purely dependent on my mother's and sister's mood^^. I'm just happy to eat chocolates from kenny's company gift exchange.

I also bought some from nearby market to treat myself. Meiji black is my all time favorite, then Nutella was sold at 50 cent so cheap, must grab lor! Jap candy never see before, so just try. I used to eat Nutella from young, it was one of the childhood candies....remember the candy with a hole in the centre, which you blow into it and there's sound....then got "M&Ms" chocolate in the package with the shape of number 8....chocolate is gold coins design....wah sweet memories. Luckily these days still can buy these stuff at mama shop.

Met up with friends at new york new york for gathering on Saturday, next time then write when i got the photos. HJ faster send me lay....

*Munch Munch Munch!*

The big eating sound is to show how delicious our lab tea break was this afternoon! But before that i want to talk about my day on Wednesday, so sucky! I'm really glad that PI was happy to teach me how to section my fish embryos...first thing we did was to book the machine. The morning slots were taken up so we could only take the afternoon ones. We went back to the lab station and his wife was also showing her student the sectioning process. So PI wanted me to follow them. Everything is really interesting, its good to have new stuff to learn every now and then. Anyway i thought PI would not show me the whole process again, but he did la. A bit tired by then. Then there's another student who also wanted to learn, so PI showed him the ropes first while i looked on from beside. So can you imagine? By the time its my turn, its already the third time i had seen it...wah...was really feeling drained. I think it was also because i woke up damn early that day in order to reach the lab before 8am just to add one reagent....mood was pretty foul since the start of the day.



This is the sectioning machine, my samples are the white white thing on the left. Place the sample on the black round holder for sectioning. The "spinning wheel" is by the side of the machine that controls the blade to move up and down, like sewing machine actually. This was the first time doing it and i realised it is mudderfarking tedious and cold! The area inside is kept at -30 degree, i can't stand cold so the process was tormenting. By the time i was done, its already 7pm, fingers numbed and brain drained. Because i overshot the time to fix the embryos, the reagent i added in the early morning was wasted argh!! Stayed in the lab for almost 12h and only did one experiment, i thought to myself not very productive lay...Learned one lesson that day, next time i would plan the whole day for sectioning, without other experiment to worry about.



Enough of complaining, sounded very grumpy =.=". My lab had tea break today for two reasons, to celebrate my mentor Steven's birthday and farewell party for ZR. See how funny they are, standing on chairs as to hold an important ceremony hahaa! The food was oolala~

Birthday cake is pandan flavor, which is very special and i seldom get to eat. The pastries were bought from a bakery shop in holland v, although many said the bun-like pastry is famous, i prefer the fruit tarts because of their crunchy bits. Then here comes the ultimate maker for a super duper tea break, chocolates from ROYCE!! OMG I couldn't take my eyes off it ever since it made its appearance on the table. Lucky to have Christmas while just started working, so many chocolates to eat and so little stomach space.

Suck the Kao :)~~

Finally get to eat the chocolate dessert in the Esplanade store Max Brenner yesterday.

I ordered this hot chocolate drink "Suckao", meaning sucking the molten chocolate with the metal straw. Sound very crude, like an aphrodisiac drink or something hahaa. The chocolate discs came with the choices of white, milk and dark, of course i got the dark one la.... First, add some milk into the container. Second, wait for it to be warmed up by the candle below. Third, dump all the chocolate discs right in, not without saving one to eat *Hohoo!* The dark chocolate was not as bitter as i expected, was a little disappointed. Needed to add in a lot of the milk to melt the discs initially, diluting the taste in the process. The best part was to let the drink slowly "simmer" to become more concentrated. When i drank the warm and potent "brew", wah lao it felt like Heaven.

Kenny ordered the waffles....wow look at how "flooded" it is....the sauce can also choose white, milk or dark. The berry jam was not bad too. I love it when the people are generous with chocolate sauce for waffle desserts, it make great sense that waffles have "wells" in them for "flooding" purposes right?
This was what i ordered, can't remember the name cos it was not my first choice. I wanted to get a fondant but not available...sianz...then that person recommended this....it turned out to be a pleasant surprise! The pastry has two layers, the bottom is moist cake, the top is chocolate mousse. The mousse melted in my mouth almost in an instance, so satisfying!

We went to watch The Warlords in the evening. It has the usual glory part as a war movie, didn't find it as bad as ks finds it to be. Hey try watching The Devil's Rejects, that's really above my limit lor!...really buidahan. I like Jet Li's character, like more in depth and complex. Andy Lau is the righteous one, while Takashi is simple minded. Don't know why the movie make him look so retarded sometimes....said " 大 哥 是 對 的" so many times, and also the brotherhood pledge sentences. A lot of people laughed as he kept saying innocently. The part where 4000 soldiers killed was really sad, i cried a bit sob sob. Why cannot release them if keeping them is a burden, why must kill them lay?

Youtubbing all day

Nothing to do, stopped playing NDS for a while cos i'm afraid of getting tired of it fast, so i surf Youtube to see if there's anything interesting to post.^^ I saw a news report recently about this endangered species which hops around like a kangaroo. Soooo cute and tiny with big ears! It looked so animated that i thought only existed in the jap anime.

The documentary of its life was only released recently, just wondering if anyone of you know such an animal existed or not heh heh. Anyway, i continued to search for funny videos and came across these two.

My gosh! Think twice about saying bad stuff in front of your pets, they can communicate like humans with us and among themselves. The two cats are really unbelievable btw.

Finally set up a blog, all thanks to Winnie who have a private blog and made me sign up an account blah blah blah... so i unknowingly, unusually and unconsciously created one myself on Wednesday o_O". Feeling so "exposed" to talk about my life, and confused by all the features, i only managed to start blogging today! *Applause*

Suaku i know, like i just evolved or something, so paiseh. Aiyah wat the heck, i told myself just do it and i may like it in the end. Most of my friends already have blogged for ages, and i thought i will never ever EVER be like them. But now i just want to say...I ALSO CAN BLOG OOKKAAY!? Of course i said it in a nice way, cum and support me k hehee.

Today is half burn, its supposed to have briefings in the morning at SBS, and as usual by the "efficient" admin, one of the briefing is next month, going for the one in jan is of course better la. The problem is that they always have to inform us at the last minute, like they'll get bonus for irritating the students. Anyway, whole friday should be free, before my mentor give me work to do in the morning. Morning take photos of my outstanding fish, lunch time i went home before i leave for my facial appointment in the evening.

Talking of my fish, i just gave SQ a batch yesterday. I was so nervous, heng got help from ZR to pour the fish into a plastic bag. Bye bye fishy, i think its better that way for you to live with the "stepmother" then to kill you hahaa. Just joking la SQ, really thanks for your help.

Lately my flat has quite a few stray cats appearing, one of them is pregnant and likes to ask for affection. I opened my door and was greeted by this pair of big eyes.

I was so freaked out, my god she concealed so well among the shoes! Played with her for a while and this happened, refer to video.

She kept blocking my path and didn't allow me to go, even bit me in my foot! (That's when i said "Hey!") No cuts or bleeding, it felt like a pinch though. Few seconds of walk to the lift was dragged for more than 2 minutes hahaa. Although she has a big belly, she would everyday make her way from the ground floor to my neighbour's doormat to sleep, and i live at 12th floor mind you! I've seen her walking the stairs and not taking the lift with the help of people. That's what i call a SUPERMOM.

After all the drama, i reached the beauty centre and saw this at the entrance. It looked so funny, like a giant toilet paper cos it's not round like a snowman hahaa!
